I gave it a shot this month, tried all. Selling forms, selling courses, selling digital calculators. Nothing, I’ve even finished a book I had on the works a couple of years back. Not one single copy sold so far. (the experiment was to invest 0).
I went to seminars, and everybody was selling courses on how to make it big in the internet. Apparently, that is the new hot item from people that couldn’t make a dime otherwise.
At some point it feels like a religion. Paradise is promise if you buy the next course, or if invest in marketing on x or y platform, you just have to keep believing, an if nothing happens, try again it wasn’t your time.
I don’t doubt there is a few select people that make money on the internet with digital products of low effort. They must be out there somewhere. Just like, out of the sea of self-publish authors, there are a few who make good money out of it. At least more than what they put into marketing.
Disclaimer I do make money out of the internet, but the old way; Saas product that has a team of engineers behind it, Salespeople, marketing, a professional website, multiple physical offices.
I know entertainment people that make money out of the internet, not the famous one, but people that have cultivated a few loyal fans.
Other than that, all I see is an ocean of dead dreams and scammers trying to pray on desperate souls.
You need a real product. Addressing a real need. I think that’s’ the question people don’t ask themselves.
What is the problem that I am trying to solve?
Is there somebody willing to pay money for it?
Lastly do I have the resources to build or upkeep that product? This part includes Marketing, sales, and all the other expenses.
Ask yourself those questions and if you don’t get a good answer, move on. Don’t waste time.
I recently heard a podcast from one of this so call “I can teach you how to be a millionaire” guys. His advice; don’t think, jus doit, if you fail, you’ll learn do it again. My advice DON’T do it.
If you are not willing to endure researching the market. Learning how to sale, how to market, and how to deliver. Business is not for you.
Of course, don’t get to paralysis by analysis syndrome, but do your homework. It will save you tons of money and time.
